    Style Heroine

With everyone riffing around deconstruction, individualism, army surplus, gender bending and lace (all tied up with string), then you'd be wise to check out the back catalogue of superstylist Caroline Baker

    Walking in the rain

This still is taken from backstage video footage of preparation for Alexander McQueen’s Golden Shower Spring/Summer 1998 fashion show, filmed by renowned set designer Simon Costin. It shows McQueen’s stylist and long-time collaborator Katy England road testing the designer’s heels on a wet perspex catwalk. This film is part of Costin’s Impossible Catwalks exhibition at Fashion Space Gallery, 20 John Princes Street, London College of Fashion, London, W1. Until Saturday, 13 December 2014.

    Divinely Decadent

It was a delight to spend last evening in conversation with legendary Biba creator Barbara Hulanicki at the Fashion Museum in Bath. A glimpse of Biba fake leopard can be seen on the jacket worn by Arthur Kane, bass guitarist with the New York Dolls, during their iconic 1973 ‘mock rock’ performance on The Old Grey Whistle Test.

    Broken Noses

I’m a tad obsessed with Alan Crocetti’s silver jewellery for Spring/Summer 2015, especially his nose clips inspired by a boxer’s plaster. It reminded me of a photograph I styled for The Times Magazine back in October 1994 taken by the legendary Buffalo sharp shooter Roger Charity. The model’s name is Mackie Alcantara Hair by Thomas Dunkin.

    J'aime Jean Paul Gaultier

This week I've been hanging out in my local library monopolising the photo copier machine (again!), armed with scissors and glue stick, pasting together a special limited edition fanzine that will accompany an informal talk I'll be giving at the Barbican next week celebrating the marvellous Monsieur Jean Paul Gaultier. The fanzine will include this picture I styled inspired by JPG's Autumn/Winter 1987 Rock Stars collection. It was photographed by Pete Moss at the old Town and Country Club in Kentish Town and features models Jean Luc and Andre Van Noord. It originally appeared in BLITZ magazine, June 1987. J'adore...
