Anna Sui is an American fashion designer who discovered her passion for the industry from a young age, making her own clothes since she was four years old.

Originally from Detroit, she studied her craft at Parsons School of Design in New York, after finishing this she moved to styling alongside Steven Meisel and later to designing sportswear.

She began her self titled brand in 1981. This grew in worldwide popularity over the 1980's and 1990's resulting in her winning the CDFA 'Perry Ellis' award in 1991.

Her aesthetic is noted for its attention to detail, rock and roll influences and later for her extension lines ranging from perfume to accessories. She typically mixes a vintage victorian aesthetic alongside craft pieces. As a designer one thing she is constantly associated with is the influence of music among her collections, in particular British rock and roll.

Some of her other personal achievements include; winning the 'Geoffery Beene Lifetime Achievement' award in 2009, being named one of the 'Top 5 Fashion Icons of the Decade' and having stores in over 50 countries in the world.
