Establishing her house in Paris in 1912, Madeleine Vionnet built her reputation on the popularisation of the bias-cut, creating diaphanous, Grecian-style gowns flattering and caressing the body. Vionnet dominated haute couture in the 1930s setting trends with her sensual dresses worn by Hollywood icons including Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn and Greta Garbo. Today, Vionnet is today designed by Italian designer Rodolfo Paglialunga.
